Club Rules
FREEWAY FITNESS – CLUB RULES & CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
To assist us in maintaining a safe, clean, respectful and comfortable environment for all members, guests and staff, all members must comply with the following Club Rules and Conditions of Entry. Failure to comply may result in suspension, removal of afterhours access, fines, cancellation of membership and/or refusal of entry.
- GENERAL CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
- a) Entry may be refused, suspended, cancelled or you may be required to leave the club if:
- You use abusive, aggressive, threatening or inappropriate language or behaviour toward members, guests or staff.
ii. You are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
iii. You behave in an unsafe, reckless or disruptive manner.
iv. You fail to follow staff directions or Club Rules.
v. You misuse equipment or facilities. - b) Smoking, vaping, alcohol and drugs
Freeway Fitness is a strictly non-smoking and non-vaping facility. The use, possession or distribution of illegal substances or alcohol within the club is strictly prohibited.
- c) Respectful behaviour
All members and guests must treat others with respect and consideration at all times. Harassment, intimidation, discrimination, unwanted filming/photography, or inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated.
- d) Dress Code & Footwear
For hygiene and safety reasons, appropriate gym attire must be worn at all times.
The following are mandatory:
- Clean enclosed sports shoes/trainers must be worn while training.
- Shirts/singlets and appropriate athletic clothing must be worn at all times.
- Clothing must be clean, appropriate and free from offensive wording or images.
The following are NOT permitted:
- Bare feet
- Sandals
- Slides
- Crocs
- Work Boots/ Boots
- Thongs/flip flops
- Steel cap/work boots
- Jeans or denim clothing
- Clothing likely to damage equipment or create a safety risk
Management reserves the right to determine appropriate attire.
- e) Hygiene & Cleanliness
To maintain hygiene and safety standards:
- A clean towel must be used during all workouts, classes and while using equipment.
- Members must wipe down equipment after use using the provided cleaning products.
- Members are expected to maintain appropriate personal hygiene and wear deodorant while attending the club.
- Members must dispose of rubbish appropriately.
- All members must be wearing deodorant. No BO (Body odour)!
Failure to comply may result in cleaning fees, suspension or refusal of entry.
- f) Equipment Use & Gym Etiquette
Members must:
- Return all weights, dumbbells, barbells, attachments and equipment to their correct location after use.
- Unload weight plates from machines after use.
- Use equipment safely and only for its intended purpose.
- Share equipment fairly during busy periods.
- Avoid excessive noise, dropping weights unnecessarily or disruptive behaviour.
- Not reserve equipment while not actively using it.
Non-compliance may result in penalties, suspension or cancellation of membership.
- g) Mobile Phones & Cameras
Members must respect the privacy of others at all times.
- Photography or video recording of other members or staff without consent is strictly prohibited.
- Phone calls should be kept brief and considerate.
- Speakerphone or loud music without headphones is not permitted.
- No machine sitting. Use the machine and move on.
- h) Bags & Personal Belongings
For safety reasons:
- Gym bags and personal belongings must be stored in lockers/change rooms.
- Bags are not permitted on the gym floor, foyer, recovery room, walkways or training areas.
- Freeway Fitness accepts no responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged property.
A suspension penalty or a fee may apply for non-compliance.
- i) Afterhours Access
A separate afterhours induction and agreement must be completed and approved by Freeway staff prior to receiving afterhours access.
Any breach of afterhours conditions may result in:
- Immediate removal of access
- Suspension or cancellation of membership
- Financial penalties or call out fees where applicable
Members must not:
- Allow entry to non-members or other members. All must scan their card at entry.
- Prop doors open
- Share access credentials
- Train alone in unsafe conditions
- Use facilities outside approved access times
- j) Staff Directions
Members and guests must follow all reasonable directions given by Freeway staff regarding safety, conduct, hygiene and club operations at all times.
- CHILDREN
Children up to and including 12 years of age who are not members are not permitted within the club.
Children aged 12 years and over may join Freeway Fitness with written parent/guardian consent but may have restricted access to certain facilities or services.
Children under 16 years of age must:
- Follow all staff instructions
- Use equipment safely
- Be supervised where required
Parents/guardians remain responsible for the behaviour and safety of their children at all times.
- PERSONAL TRAINING
Personal training services are available through authorized Freeway Fitness Personal Trainers only.
All Personal Trainers operating within Freeway Fitness must be:
- Approved by management
- Properly qualified and insured
- Registered with Freeway Fitness
Members are strictly prohibited from conducting coaching, training or business activities within the club unless authorized by management.
Unauthorized personal training or coaching may result in:
- Immediate cancellation or suspension of membership
- Removal of club access
- Further action by management
- EQUIPMENT & HAND TOWELS
For the safety of all members:
- Equipment must be used according to manufacturer instructions.
- Members unsure how to use equipment should seek assistance from staff.
- Equipment must not be intentionally misused, damaged or altered.
Members must:
- Carry and use a hand towel while training
- Clean equipment after use
- Re-rack all weights and attachments
- Report damaged or faulty equipment immediately
Failure to comply may result in:
- Cleaning fees
- Damage fees
- Suspension or cancellation of membership
A minimum $20 fee may apply for failure to clean or return equipment correctly.
- LOCKERS
Lockers are available within the change rooms for temporary use only.
Please note:
- Lockers are not security devices.
- Freeway Fitness is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged property.
- Lockers must not be used overnight unless approved.
- Locker use during unstaffed afterhours periods may incur a call out fee if staff attendance is required.
- Locker auto unlock after 2 hours
- Any locker left locked overnight may be opened by management.
No bags or personal items are permitted in training areas.
- POOL, SPA, SAUNA & RECOVERY AREAS
Normal pool and aquatic safety rules apply at all times.
Members use these facilities at their own risk.
The following rules apply:
- Appropriate swimwear (bathers) or minimum standards of dress must be worn.
- Shower before entering pool or spa areas.
- No running, diving or unsafe behaviour.
- No shaving, washing clothes or inappropriate grooming.
- No food or glass permitted.
- Children under 12 years must be supervised by an adult at all times.
- Members must respect the quiet and relaxation nature of recovery areas.
- Towel to be used in sauna
Freeway reserves the right to remove access to these facilities for inappropriate behaviour.
- FOOD & DRINK
- Drinks must be kept in sealed, non-glass containers.
- No glass bottles or containers are permitted within the facility.
- Food is permitted in designated areas only.
- Members using kitchenette facilities must clean up after themselves immediately.
- SAFETY, MAINTENANCE & SERVICE AVAILABILITY
From time to time Freeway Fitness may:
- Adjust operating hours
- Close areas for maintenance or safety reasons
- Replace or remove equipment
- Change class schedules or services
- Update Club Rules and Conditions of Entry
- Have males in female only areas
Reasonable notice will be provided where possible via reception, signage, email, website or the member app.
- MEMBER RESPONSIBILITY & LIABILITY
Members and guests use the facilities at their own risk.
Members acknowledge that:
- Exercise and recreational activities involve inherent risks.
- They are physically capable of participating in activities undertaken.
- They must immediately stop exercising and seek assistance if feeling unwell.
Members may be held responsible for any intentional or negligent damage caused to Freeway Fitness property or equipment.
- BREACH OF CLUB RULES
Failure to comply with these Club Rules may result in:
- Verbal or written warnings
- Cleaning or damage fees
- Suspension of access
- Removal of afterhours privileges
- Cancellation of membership without refund
- Refusal of future entry
Management reserves the right to enforce these rules at its discretion to maintain a safe and respectful environment for all members.
